Product Overview

National Gypsum® is one of the largest gypsum board producers in the world, providing board for a variety of applications, including moisture-resistant, sound-proofing, and specialty board. The products are all lightweight, cost efficient, and easy to cut for quick installation. Here is an overview of the National Gypsum drywall products that Metro stocks for pick-up or delivery (boom service is also available):

General Applications

| Permabase® Cement Board - This rigid substrate is made of Portland cement, aggregate and glass mesh. The board’s high water resistance makes it ideally suited for tub and shower surrounds, countertops, flooring and similar applications.

| Gold Bond® Fire-Shield® Gypsum Board - The fire-resistant Type X gypsum core will not support combustion or transmit temperatures in excess of 212°F (100°C) until completely calcined (reduced or oxidized). The board is encased in 100% recycled paper on the face and back sides.

| Gold Bond® XP® Gypsum Board with Sporgard™ - This product offers ex tra protection against mold and mildew. The panels consist of a specially treated, fire-resistant, gypsum core encased in heavy mold, mildew and moisture resistant, 100% recycled paper on both sides: National Gypsum’s original PURPLE® paper on the face and gray paper on the back.

Soundproofing

| SoundBreak® - This innovative acoustic damping product consists of a layer of viscoelastic damping polymer centered between two sections of mold, mildew, and moisture resistant, high density gypsum board. The board allows STC wall assemblies to be thinner and, thereby, more cost-effective than traditional methods.

Speciality Drywall

| Gold Bond® Hi-Abuse® XP® Gypsum Board with Sporgard™ - This heavy duty board has a specially made Type X gypsum core, which provides greater protection against surface abuse and indentation, as well as mold, moisture, and fire resistance. The board has been found to resist the growth of mold per ASTM G 21 and ASTM D3273, both with a score of 0, the best possible score. This product can be used in fire rated wall and floor-ceiling assemblies.

| Gold Bond® Hi-Impact® XP® Gypsum Board with Sporgard™ - This product features a fiberglass mesh embedded into the core, close to the back of the board, to provide additional impact and penetration resistance. The specially formulated core also provides fire resistance, as well as additional mold and mildew protection, when compared to standard gypsum board products. Hi-Impact XP board can also be used as a tile backer in dry areas or areas with limited water exposure, such as certain kitchen and bath areas.

| Gold Bond® Fire-Shield® XP® Shaftliner - This product is designed to be used in shaftwells, stairwells, and for fire walls in multi-family housing. The board consists of a fire-resistant Type X gypsum core that will not support combustion or transmit temperatures in excess of 212°F (100°C) until completely calcined (reduced or oxidized). Fire-Shield is UL classified and approved for inclusion in specific UL fire-rated designs. Also available: Gold Bond® Fire-Shield CTM gypsum board, specifically designed for use in fire-rated Type C assemblies.
